BYD export from Dubai is a different proposition from every other brand here, and the difference is worth being blunt about. Every car on the first page of listings is current model year, almost all of it is Chinese specification, and almost all of it is electrified in some form. That makes BYD the easiest brand on the site to get past an import age limit and the one that asks the most questions about what happens after the car lands. If you are considering BYD for export, read this before choosing a model. The export process is covered on our main export page.

Which BYD models export from Dubai

Our range of export BYD cars from Dubai divides by powertrain rather than by body, because that is the decision that matters.

Plug-in hybrids. The Qin Plus, Song Plus, Seal 05 and Destroyer 05 pair a petrol engine with an electric motor, so they never depend on finding a charger. In markets where charging infrastructure is thin these are the sensible choice.

Battery electric. The e2 and Seagull are small, cheap to land and only make sense where charging exists and where duty on electric vehicles has been cut.

Large SUVs. The Leopard 5 is the off-road-capable end of the range and a genuinely different vehicle from the saloons.

What you are buying: the stock profile

The age profile is the headline. Where Mercedes-Benz stock spans twenty-five years and Toyota spans several, BYD here is essentially all current model year. A buyer working to a three or five-year import cap does not need to check the year on individual cars, which is a real administrative saving and the strongest single argument for the brand in markets with strict age rules.

Specification is the counterweight. Most of this stock is built for the Chinese market rather than for the Gulf, and that carries three consequences worth settling before you buy. The charging connector is usually the GB/T standard rather than the Type 2 fitting common across Europe and much of the Middle East, so an adapter or the original cable set has to come with the car. The infotainment and instrument software may default to Chinese, and whether it can be switched varies by model. And the warranty is generally not transferable to a market where BYD has no presence.

Build quality is better than the price suggests and is not usually where buyers get caught. Interiors are well finished, equipment levels are generous at every price point, and the batteries BYD makes itself have a solid record. The risks on this brand are administrative and geographic rather than mechanical.

None of those is a reason to avoid the brand. All of them are reasons to ask specific questions rather than assume the car is equivalent to a Gulf-specification vehicle at the same price.

Parts, service and resale at the destination

This is where BYD differs most sharply from the established brands and where a buyer should be honest with themselves. BYD has expanded very quickly and its dealer network in many destination markets is newer than the cars being sold into them. Anything involving the high-voltage system is not work an independent workshop should attempt, so the question is not whether a general mechanic can service the car but whether an authorised one exists within reach.

Where that network is established the ownership case is strong, because running costs on a plug-in hybrid driven on short journeys are genuinely low. Where it is not, the plug-in hybrids remain viable because they run on petrol when the battery is flat, while a pure electric car does not. Resale is still finding its level in most markets, which cuts both ways on price.

Where BYD sells best

The pattern follows duty policy rather than geography. Jordan is a notably strong market because the duty advantage on electrified vehicles is substantial and well established. The GCC takes steady numbers, with Saudi Arabia the largest and Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain behind it, all reachable overland.

Across Africa interest concentrates where duty on electrified vehicles has been reduced, particularly Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Nigeria, though charging coverage varies enormously and the plug-in hybrids are the easier sell for that reason. Central Asia and the Caucasus buy steadily, especially Kazakhstan and Georgia. Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have real appetite for electrified cars but drive on the left and need right-hand drive, so they are closed to our stock.

Duty and cost position

BYD is frequently the cheapest brand here to land, and for two separate reasons. The engines in the plug-in hybrids are small, so any schedule banding by capacity treats them favourably. And a growing number of markets apply a reduced rate or an exemption to electrified vehicles outright, which can move the landed cost more than the purchase price does.

Freight carries one extra step that petrol cars do not. A traction battery is classed as dangerous goods for sea movement, so it has to be declared and the line will want that settled before loading. It is routine, but it belongs in the freight quote rather than being raised at the port.

Check the incentive applies to plug-in hybrids and not only to pure electric cars, because several schemes distinguish between them and buyers who assume otherwise get an unwelcome recalculation at the border.

Choosing the right BYD for your market

If charging infrastructure at the destination is limited, buy a plug-in hybrid and nothing else. If your market has cut duty on electrified vehicles, confirm whether the cut covers plug-in hybrids before choosing. Establish the charging connector and make sure the original cable set travels with the car. And check what BYD support exists where the car is going, because on this brand that answer matters more than on any other we carry. Our BYD export dealers in Dubai can confirm the specification of any car before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BYD stock new enough for a strict age limit?

Yes, and this is the brand's strongest advantage. The listings here are essentially all current model year, so a buyer working to a three or five-year import cap does not need to check individual cars the way they would under an established brand.

What charging connector do these cars use?

Usually the GB/T standard, since most of this stock is built for the Chinese market rather than for the Gulf. That differs from the Type 2 connector common across Europe and much of the Middle East. Confirm which is fitted and make sure the original cable set comes with the car, because sorting it out afterwards is far more awkward.

Will the software be in Chinese?

It may default to Chinese on Chinese-specification cars, and whether the interface can be switched varies by model. Ask before buying rather than assuming, particularly if the car is going to a customer rather than into your own fleet.

Plug-in hybrid or fully electric?

Plug-in hybrid, unless charging at the destination is genuinely reliable. A plug-in runs on petrol when the battery is flat, so it never strands a buyer in a market with thin infrastructure. A pure electric car has no such fallback and is a much harder sell outside the main cities.

Is servicing a problem?

It can be, and it is the honest weakness of the brand. BYD has expanded faster than its dealer network in many destination markets, and high-voltage work is not something an independent workshop should attempt. Check what authorised support exists where the car is going before you commit.

Which markets cannot take these cars?

Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kenya and the other left-hand-traffic countries, which drive on the left and require right-hand drive vehicles. UAE stock is left-hand drive. Jordan, the GCC, North Africa, West Africa and the Central Asian states are all open.
