What a ROX 01 Actually Costs to Rent in Dubai

Daily rates across the Dubai market run from roughly AED 490 to AED 900 depending on the supplier, the trim and the model year. Monthly rates run from about AED 10,500 to AED 19,000.

The Deposit - and Why It Matters More on This Car

This is the number to ask about before anything else on a vehicle at this price point.

A ROX 01 deposit will typically run AED 2,000 to AED 5,000 - substantially more than an economy car, because the vehicle is worth around AED 190,000. It is held as a pre-authorisation on your credit card rather than charged, so the money is ring-fenced rather than taken.

But it releases slowly: usually 20 to 30 days after the rental ends. On a AED 5,000 authorisation, that is a serious chunk of your credit limit tied up for a month after you have handed the car back.

Several suppliers in Dubai offer the ROX 01 with no deposit at all. Filter for those first. On a car in this bracket, a no-deposit rental at a slightly higher daily rate is frequently the better arrangement - and it is certainly the less stressful one.

Always pay a deposit by credit card, as a pre-authorisation. Never in cash, never as a straight debit-card charge.

Monthly ROX 01 Rental in Dubai

From AED 10,499 per month. That typically includes comprehensive insurance, servicing, and a mileage allowance of 4,000 to 9,000 km depending on the supplier.

Compare that with buying. A new ROX 01 in Dubai costs roughly AED 183,000 to AED 197,000. At AED 10,499 a month you would rent for about eighteen months before matching the purchase price - and in that time you would never pay for a service, an insurance renewal, or take the depreciation hit on a brand-new marque with no established resale market.

That last point is worth dwelling on. ROX is new to the UAE. Nobody knows yet what a three-year-old ROX 01 will be worth. Renting transfers that risk entirely to the supplier.

For anyone who wants a large, well-equipped seven-seat SUV without betting on the residual value of an unfamiliar brand, monthly rental is the rational choice.

Watch the mileage cap carefully. Suppliers quote anywhere from 4,000 to 9,000 km a month. Confirm the excess rate per kilometre in writing before you sign.

On a seven-seat SUV this matters more than usual - if you are landing with a family and luggage, having the car at the terminal rather than a shuttle ride away is worth arranging properly.

What You Need to Rent a ROX 01 in Dubai

• UAE residents: a valid UAE driving licence and your Emirates ID.
   

• Visitors: your passport, a valid UAE visa or entry stamp, and either an International Driving Permit or a licence from a country Dubai recognises directly - the UK, US, Canada, Australia, most of the EU and the GCC all qualify.

Minimum age is typically 23–25 for a vehicle in this class - higher than for an economy car, because of the value and the insurance banding. Some suppliers require that the licence has been held for at least two years.

You will need a credit card in the main driver's name with sufficient available limit for the deposit, unless you have booked a no-deposit rental.

Insurance, Excess and Mileage

Basic comprehensive insurance is included in every rental, as required by RTA Dubai regulations. It covers accidental damage where the fault is not yours. A police report is mandatory at the time of any accident - without one, no claim will be processed at any company in the UAE.

What it does not do is remove your liability. On a vehicle of this value the excess is typically AED 3,000 to AED 6,000, which you pay before insurance engages. A Collision Damage Waiver reduces or removes it for roughly AED 80–150 per day.

On a car worth AED 190,000, taking the CDW is usually the right call. The maths is simple: a fortnight of CDW at AED 100 a day costs AED 1,400 against a potential AED 6,000 excess.

Standard mileage is 250 km per day, or 4,000–9,000 km per month. Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back is roughly 280 km, so a single day trip will exceed the daily cap.
 

Before You Take the Keys

• Video the car before you drive it away. Walk around it slowly with your phone recording, then take close-ups of every existing scratch, kerbed wheel and stone chip. Send that video to the supplier immediately over WhatsApp so there is a timestamped record.
   

• On a car with a AED 5,000 deposit and a AED 6,000 excess, this is not optional. A scratch dispute on a ROX 01 can cost you thousands, and almost every deposit dispute in Dubai comes down to disagreement about pre-existing damage.
   

• Check that the rental agreement is issued under the same company name shown on the OneClickDrive listing.
   

• Get four numbers in writing before you sign: the deposit, the mileage cap, the insurance excess, and the excess-mileage rate per kilometre.
   

The ROX 01 - What You Are Actually Getting

A large seven-seat SUV with an extended-range hybrid powertrain: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine acting as a generator, driving electric motors. Combined output is around 469 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. It is genuinely quick for its size.

The extended-range setup means roughly 235 km of pure electric driving from the 56 kWh battery, and over 1,100 km of total range with the petrol generator running. In practical Dubai terms: you can do a week of city commuting without the engine ever starting, and still drive to Oman without planning a charging stop.

Inside it is genuinely luxurious - large screens, good materials, a proper six- or seven-seat layout with a usable third row. The VIP trim has captain's chairs in the second row.

The honest caveats: ROX is an unknown brand in the UAE. The dealer network is small - essentially one distributor. Long-term reliability is unproven because the car has not been here long enough for anyone to know. Resale value is a genuine unknown.

For a rental, none of that matters. You are getting a fast, quiet, extremely well-equipped seven-seat SUV for AED 490 a day, which is less than a Nissan Patrol costs, and the reliability risk sits with the supplier rather than with you.

That is precisely the argument for renting one rather than buying one.
 

ROX 01, Nissan Patrol, or Something Else?

The Nissan Patrol is the default large SUV in Dubai and rents for roughly AED 350–800 a day. It is proven, ubiquitous, and everyone knows what it is. It is also thirsty, and it is not a hybrid.

The ROX 01 undercuts most Patrol rentals, is considerably more economical to fuel, has a more modern interior, and is far more interesting. It is also an unknown quantity, and if you break down you are relying on a single distributor.

If you want the safest, most predictable seven-seat SUV, take the Patrol .

If you want the most technology, the lowest running costs and something nobody else on Sheikh Zayed Road is driving, take the ROX.
