Nissan export from Dubai runs on one vehicle more than any other, and the Patrol is why buyers come to the brand here rather than anywhere else. Around it sits a range that covers taxi work, family transport and light commercial use, most of it Gulf specification and most of it recent. Which Nissan models export from Dubai

Our range of export Nissan cars from Dubai splits cleanly into four jobs.

Large SUVs. The Patrol is the vehicle this brand is known for in export markets, with the Armada and Xterra alongside it.

Family crossovers. The X-Trail, Rogue, Kicks and Murano cover the mid-size ground, and the Rogue is the same vehicle as the X-Trail under an American name.

Saloons and small cars. The Sunny, Sentra, Altima and Magnite are the volume cars, and the Sunny in particular is a fixture of taxi and ride-hailing fleets across West Africa.

Commercial. The Urvan for people and goods, the Navara where a pickup is wanted.

What you are buying: the stock profile

Nissan stock here is predominantly Gulf specification and predominantly recent, with the first page of listings running from a few years old to current model year. That combination is unusually favourable for export: the cars were built for this climate, and enough of them are new enough to clear tight import age caps.

The exception worth knowing is the American-named cars. The Rogue is the X-Trail sold under a different badge for North America, and cars carrying that name here are usually American-specification imports rather than Gulf stock. They are frequently cheaper for the same vehicle, but the equipment differs and some receiving countries query documentation that does not match a specification they recognise. Neither is a reason to avoid them; both are reasons to check which you are buying.

Body mix is the other useful signal. Nissan's stock here leans toward large SUVs and small saloons with comparatively little in between, which mirrors what the Gulf market itself buys. If you want a mid-size family car the choice is narrower than under Toyota or Hyundai, and the crossovers are where to look rather than the saloons.

The other thing to establish per car is the transmission. Several of the crossovers use a continuously variable gearbox, and on those the fluid service record matters considerably more than the odometer reading.

Parts, service and resale at the destination

Nissan sits just behind Toyota on the measure that matters most in export markets, which is whether an ordinary workshop can fix the car. Across West and Central Africa, the Levant and the GCC the answer is yes, parts are stocked locally and the mechanicals are familiar. The Patrol in particular has been sold in the region long enough that specialist knowledge exists well outside the main cities.

The one caveat is on the newest models and the electrified cars, where dealer support in some African markets is still catching up with what has been sold. On the conventional petrol range that is not an issue anywhere our buyers ship.

Resale is strong on the large SUVs and on the small saloons for different reasons. A Patrol sells on quickly because demand consistently exceeds supply in the markets that want them; a Sunny sells because fleets replace them continually and buyers know exactly what they are getting.

Where Nissan sells best

The GCC takes the largest share, with Saudi Arabia first and Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain behind it, all reachable overland, and the Patrol is close to a default choice there. Iraq and Jordan take steady numbers across the range.

Across West and Central Africa the saloons and crossovers do the volume, with demand in Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, DR Congo and Angola, and North Africa consistent in Egypt, Libya, Algeria and Morocco. Central Asia and the Caucasus buy the smaller-engined cars steadily. Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia drive on the left and need right-hand drive, which our stock is not, so those markets are closed to us.

Duty and cost position

Nissan gives you a genuine choice of duty position, which not every brand here does. The Sunny, Magnite and Kicks sit at the bottom of any capacity-banded schedule and land cheaply almost everywhere. The crossovers sit in the middle. The Patrol and Armada carry large engines and sit near the top, and in markets that charge steeply on capacity that is the single largest cost in the transaction.

Buyers frequently underestimate how much of the total cost the duty represents on the large SUVs, and then discover the vehicle is unsellable at the price the arithmetic demands. Work the landed figure before agreeing anything, not after.

Where the Patrol still works despite that is in markets with cheap fuel and strong resale, which describes most of the GCC. Where it does not, the crossovers do the same family job at a fraction of the landed cost.

Choosing the right Nissan for your market

If you are supplying the Gulf, the Patrol is usually the answer and the duty is worth paying.
