You will see the car written as ROX Adamas, ROX 01 Adamas, and now and then with the Polestones name in front. If a listing calls itself an Adamas but the photos show the earlier front end, compare it with the used ROX 01 listings instead. The registration papers or the chassis number will tell you which car it is.

First Class or Couch: six seats or seven

ROX builds two cabins, and the seat count is the first thing to settle.

• First Class has six seats in three rows of two, with two individual reclining chairs in the middle row that massage and lean back.

• Couch has seven seats, with a bench where First Class has the two chairs.

• Sellers also write VIP, Luxury or simply Adamas in the title, and some leave the version blank.

• Count the seats in the photos, then ask the seller to confirm the version on the spec sheet.

First Class is the car most dealers in Dubai stock. It suits a family that rarely fills every seat and wants the middle row to be the comfortable place to sit. A household that regularly carries seven, or wants to slide a child seat onto a bench, is better served by the Couch.

GCC spec, Chinese spec or Other

Adamas listings in Dubai fall into three groups, and the label on the card matters more than the colour or the trim.

A GCC spec car was supplied for this region, normally through the official ROX distributor in the UAE, and should come with a factory warranty that a local service centre recognises. A Chinese spec car was built for the home market and imported by a trader. It can be cheaper, but the menus, the voice assistant and some connected features may be set up for China, and the battery fitted to China market cars has been reported smaller than the one on the global specification. Cars marked Other usually mean the seller has not said, so ask.

None of this makes a Chinese spec Adamas a bad buy. It means you should ask three things before a viewing: which battery is fitted, whether the software is in English and can be updated here, and who will honour the warranty.

Why so many Adamas cars in the used section have no kilometres

Traders bring in batches of new cars and list them wherever buyers search, so a car with zero on the odometer often appears among the used ROX Adamas for sale in Dubai. Some have already been registered once by the importer, which technically makes the buyer the second owner. Others have never been plated.

Ask the seller which it is. A car that was registered and then sold on may already have used part of its factory cover, and its Mulkiya will show the first registration date. The petrol engine never drives the wheels. For most owners that means charging at home overnight and covering the school run, the office and the weekend shopping on electricity. On a drive to Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah the engine comes in and you refuel at an ordinary station, so there is no range worry on long trips. A villa with a wall box gets the most out of the car. In an apartment, check what your building allows before you buy.

Running costs follow the same pattern. Charging at home costs less than filling the tank, the engine still needs its regular oil service, and Salik and parking cost the same as for any other car. Tyres for a heavy, powerful SUV are not cheap, so look at the tread on the car you are viewing.

What to look at on a nearly new Adamas

With so few kilometres, the checks are less about wear and more about whether the car is complete and properly documented.

• Read the chassis number on the car and match it to the papers.

• Confirm the seat layout and that both middle row chairs recline and massage on a First Class car.

• Ask for the state of charge and the battery health reading from the screen.

• Plug the car in, or watch the seller do it, and check that the charging cable and any adapter are in the car.

• Look for transport marks on the bumpers, sills and wheels, since many cars have travelled a long way.

• Ask for a pre purchase inspection report, even on a car that has never been driven.

Who stands behind the warranty

This is the question that separates two cars at the same asking figure. On a GCC spec car bought from an authorised dealer, the factory warranty usually runs from the first registration and is honoured at the distributor's service centre. On an imported car, the cover often comes from the trader instead, and its length, its terms and what happens if the trader closes all depend on that one business.

Ask for the warranty terms in writing and check whether the battery is covered separately. If the car has been registered before, find out the original start date, because that is when the clock started, whatever the odometer reads. A low service history is normal on a car this new, but any software update or recall work should be recorded.

What moves the asking figure on a second hand Adamas

Three things set most of the gap between listings: the version, the spec and the warranty. First Class usually asks more than Couch because of the chairs and the extra equipment. GCC spec usually asks more than an import because of the factory cover and the local support behind it.

After that come the details that matter on any car. Paint colour, the condition of the cabin, whether the car has been registered, and how long the seller has had it in stock. A trader holding several identical cars may move on price where a single owner will not. Compare cars of the same version and spec first, then look at the asking figures on the live listings.
