Dongfeng used cars are a newer sight in Dubai than most Chinese makes, because the brand only opened its own UAE showroom recently. A used Dongfeng today is usually one of two things: a pickup from the Nissan joint venture that builds the Rich 7 and the Z9, or a young sedan or SUV from the passenger range. If you are looking at Dongfeng cars for sale, start by working out which of those you want, because a work pickup and a family car are bought and checked in different ways.

Dongfeng is one of China's oldest car makers, and the badge covers a lot of ground. In Dubai you will see it on pickups, a compact SUV, a family sedan and a large SUV from its M-Hero brand, and some Dongfeng car listings are brand new cars a dealer has placed in the used section. Every second hand Dongfeng on OneClickDrive is listed by a dealer, a trader or a private owner, so check the specification and the kilometres before anything else. A Dongfeng in Dubai with GCC papers is a different purchase from one imported with Chinese settings.

Dongfeng Models You Can Buy Used in Dubai

Most Dongfeng Dubai listings come from the range sold new in the UAE, plus a few cars brought in privately. The Dongfeng Rich 7 is a double cab pickup, and the Dongfeng Z9 is the newer of the two. Both come from Zhengzhou Nissan, a joint venture between Dongfeng and Nissan, so ask the seller which engine and gearbox the car has, because both pickups have been sold in more than one version.

For a daily car, the Dongfeng Shine is the sedan and the Dongfeng Mage is the compact SUV. Both are part of the line-up Dongfeng launched with its official dealer, so a local car should have a UAE service record. The Dongfeng M-Hero 917 is a different kind of car altogether: a big SUV from the M-Hero brand, which grew out of Dongfeng's Mengshi military vehicles. The Dongfeng 008 and 007

A used Dongfeng 008 in Dubai, or a second hand 007, is still a rare find, because very few of either have reached the resale market here. The 008 is a large SUV and the 007 is a sedan, and both come from eπ (Yipai), Dongfeng's electric brand in China. Each is built as a pure battery car and as a range extender, where a petrol engine charges the battery and the electric motors drive the wheels. If a Dongfeng 008 or 007 for sale does appear, ask which of the two power types it has, check the specification on the Mulkiya, and ask how the charging works with the plug types you will use in the UAE. A 008 bought in China may also need its screen language and settings changed.

Voyah, Forthing and the Other Dongfeng Brands

Dongfeng runs several brands, and they are listed separately. Voyah is its premium electric brand, and its cars have their own section: used Voyah cars in Dubai. Forthing comes from Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor and has its own used Forthing listings. If you are open to any car from the group, search all three names, because one dealer can list cars under more than one of them.

Who Is Behind Dongfeng

Dongfeng Motor Corporation is a state-owned company based in Wuhan. It started in 1969 as the Second Automobile Works and has built cars and trucks for decades, both under its own name and in joint ventures with foreign makers, Nissan among them. For a used buyer that history means the cars come from a large, established manufacturer, not a start up.

What it does not mean is a strong resale market in the UAE yet. Dongfeng opened its first Dubai showroom with a local distributor in 2024, so the badge is new to most buyers here. Pickup, Sedan or SUV

Start with how the car will earn its keep. A Rich 7 or a Z9 makes sense for someone who carries ladders, stock or bikes during the week and the family at the weekend, since both have a full rear cabin as well as the bed. Fuel type varies on the Z9, which has been sold with petrol and with diesel, so read the listing closely. A buyer who will use a pickup for a company should also check that the registration and the insurance match that use.

For school runs, mall trips and the drive between emirates, the Shine and the Mage make more sense. The Shine is the easier car to park in a tight mall space. The Mage sits higher and suits a family that wants an SUV without a big one's size. The M-Hero 917 is a large SUV with a lot of presence, so drive it in traffic and try it in your own parking space before you decide.

GCC Spec or Imported

Two cars listed as a Dongfeng for sale with the same badge and year can be quite different. One that came through the Dongfeng UAE dealer has a GCC specification, menus in English or Arabic and a workshop network that already knows it. One listed as Chinese or "Other" spec was brought in from abroad, and its equipment, screen language and factory cover may not match the local car.

So the first question to a seller is where the car was registered when new, and the second is for a photo of the Mulkiya. With an import, ring the authorised workshop, quote the chassis number and find out whether they will look after it before you talk about price.

Zero Kilometre Cars in the Used Search

Some Dongfeng listings show delivery mileage only and no earlier owner. These are new cars that a dealer has chosen to show among used stock. That is not a problem in itself, and such a car should carry the full manufacturer cover, but judge its price against new, and find out who the first registered owner will be. Buyers who want the used discount are better off with a car that has a year or so of real driving behind it.

What Moves the Price of a Used Dongfeng

The body style sets the level first: a large SUV, a double cab pickup and a family sedan are priced in separate bands, and the trim level shifts a car inside its band. Past that, history and origin decide it. Local specification, dealer stamps and remaining cover add value, while an import with little paperwork, or a pickup that has clearly done site work, takes it away.

Every listing carries an asking price and an estimated monthly figure, and lining two cars up is the fastest way to see what a better history is worth. Few Dongfengs are on sale at any one time, so measure a Mage or a Shine against rival cars of a similar size and age too, and not just against the other Dongfengs listed.

What to Look At on a Test Drive

The list depends on the body style.

• Pickups: lift the bed liner if there is one, look under the rear for bent tow hardware, and check that the springs are level when unladen.

• Diesel Z9: listen for rattles in the first minute after a cold start.

• Screens and cameras: switch through the menus. Chinese text on the display is a sign the car was imported.

• Paperwork: match the dealer stamps to the odometer reading, then have an approved test centre inspect the car and keep its report.

Warranty, Parts and Servicing

A Dongfeng that was first sold by the UAE distributor may still be inside its factory cover. Send the chassis number to the authorised service centre and get a written answer on what is left and whether it moves to a new owner, because skipped servicing or an overseas first registration can cancel it.

The brand is new here, so ring the parts desk with the chassis number before you commit and ask about the cost and the wait for common service items. On the M-Hero 917, which is a rare car in the UAE, ask about tyres and brake parts in particular.

Transferring a Used Dongfeng at the RTA

Run the plate through a fines search first, and find out whether a bank still has a loan on the car. If it does, the seller settles it and brings the clearance letter on the day.

At the RTA you will need the current Mulkiya from the seller, both parties' Emirates IDs and a policy in the buyer's name. A car past a certain age has to pass a technical test first. Pickups registered to a company can add a step, so ask about the plate category before you book a slot.
