The 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera, now in its seventh generation, is even tighter with the road, faster and more dynamic than the one that debuted in 1963. PASM, Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system -- which is adaptable -- is now standard on all 911s. It lowers the body about a half-inch compared to the old Carrera which allows it to be more sharper. Porsche does a great job with the steering feel, especially the weight and progression. The Carrera uses an electromechanical setup so the road feel is muted to say the least. An efficiency-minded addition in this Carrera is the dual-clutch automatic (PDK) transmission’s coasting function, which returns the engine to idle just about any time the driver lifts off the throttle.
